After the period of famine has passed, Elijah was still with in the woman' house(1 Kings 17:17-24), then the widow's son became terribly sick. The sickness left him breathless, this provoke the widow to confront Elijah, the Prophet, she asked him “What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!”.
Apparently she wasn't a saint, and she knows within herself that she is a sinner who deserves to be punish as it is the normal practice of Judgement but Elijah responded in an action that exhibited the love of God to us regardless of our sins. For in verse 19, ' And he said to her, “Give me your son.” And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed and prayed to God then laid on him three timesAnd the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and he revived.' there and then, they was a total healing section of the son.
And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, “See, your son lives.” Something wonderful happened in the next verse,' And the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”
The whole earth seeks to know this God that was revealed to the Widow for he doesn't repay us in the same measure of our sins. Our faith has to be accompanied with compassion and action. We should heal the sick, raise the dead, give comfort to those who mourn and break shackles.
