If we were told to go and help a dying society, just like Jonah, we would likely refuse to go because we think our effort would make no difference. Though, it could be true that at that moment, our effort might actually make no difference, but as time goes on our drops of effort becomes a mighty ocean of efforts that makes a big difference.
you would be amazed how a word of correction made in love can melt the stoniest of hearts, or how a kind act can be multipled in multiple folds. In a society that would rather watch a person dies than make effort to
keep the person alive, we see people fight to stay alive for hours before help comes, hospitals would rather see the money before saving a life, roads are bad for no just cause but to enrich the executor's sack and so on, if we can just look out for another person's interest rather than ours.
STOP! for a moment and think about the person next to you or next door, then pray for the person's needs nd desires. it is an exercise that works miraculously every time, when i start to feel sorry for myself, instantly i take a hold of myself, then i remember someone that needs my prayers, I start praying for the person and i always feel happier after praying for another person, rather than wallow in my own
desires.
Just like Jonah, we would rather run away than help someone or some people in need, as we celebrate our nations independence day, let us think about how we can help one another as a nation and one of the major help is words of prayer (Jonah 4).
ACTION POINT
1. Give a helping hand atleast once a week.
2. Take up a project in a person's life and follow through till the end e.i it could be mentoring, sponsoring or counselling.
3. Pray for Nigeria once a day and do your job excellently.
