Rachael! Give up that idol.

When Rachel went to the land of Canaan with her husband Jacob, she stole the images/ idols belonging to her father Laban (Genesis 31:19). Laban went in quick pursuit after Jacob once he realized his images had been stolen. Rachel then placed them in the saddle bags of her camel and sat on it (verse 34) but Laban did not look there for ritualistic reasons. In (verse 32), Jacob has already promised that anyone who has taken those images will die.

Rachael did not die that day but she died not too long after. In chapter 35:16, Rachael died of the pain of childbirth, with her last breathe, she died she named her son, Ben-oni( Son of my sorrow), but Jacob changed the name to Benjamin( Son of my right hand), this is God taking us away from our sorrow to his right hand.

Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.
Jacob had earlier announced to them in Gen 35:1-2 to put away their foreign gods and be clean, everyone dropped their idols except Rachael. So She died and was buried on the way with just a stone as a monument.

There are many things we hold on to and not willing to give up, of which most of them are not good for us. We hold on to the past, ourselves, grudges, hatred, strife, unforgiveness, revenge etc, all bottled up inside. Jacob had to ask everyone to be clean and wash their garment before they could move on. This sins are actually very destructive to our souls and spirits, holding us back from enjoying what God has for us, hindering us from moving to Bethel where God resides.

In conclusion, let us drop all the things that can hinder us (Hebrews 12:1) Let us lay aside every weight, encumbrance  - As all who run a race take care to do. Let us throw off whatever weighs us down, or damps the vigour of our Soul that we can then run with endurance the race, the purpose God has set before us to accomplish.
