The Rapist and the Rapee.

Dinah, the daughter of Leah and Jacob went to visit the young women living in the area, then Shechem, the Prince, saw her,  he seized her and raped her. After that, he fell in love with her and wanted to marry her, but the crime had already been committed, so he told his father to get her for him as wife.

Jacob and his sons were angry when they heard about what had happened to their sister, so Jacob's sons revenge by killing the rapist, the rapist's father and all the men in the land by deceit and then captured all their women and children as slaves and took away their property. Dinah never got married.(Genesis 34).

The offence of Rape has become very common in Court Rooms all over the world, young and old men are being charged for the crime of rape daily and we wonder why this is happening and who is at fault(the rapist or the victim).

Most likely, the rapist just want to have some fun without bothering about the repercussion, and for the lady or the victim, her fault would be that she is a woman walking up and down(Waka waka), so due to the shame and the blame attached, the victims would rather prefer not to say anything, and the criminal then go free, continuing in his wicked ways.

We should advice any rape victim to report at any office of the Law Enforcement Agency or talk to someone, they can trust to help them find justice( most appropriately, a lawyer). The victim should also visit the hospital for medical intervention and finally, book an appointment with a counsellor or a therapist to help curtail the stigma. Be sure not to obtain revenge by self help, it does more damage than good.(Genesis 34:30).
