Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies.
He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. Ephesians 5:25-32 NIV
I have read it previously but this time, I found something profound; “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church"Verse 32. It is quite funny but it is profound, this guy paul wasn't talking about the way a man should treat his wife and leave his father and mother, but he was talking about Jesus leaving heaven, which is his throne to come and live amongst us. His first coming was a humble one as a babe born in manger. He left His throne of glory and chose to lay aside that glory for our benefit as He came to reside in a sin-filled world with the specific purpose of delivering us from that penalty of sin.
In PHI 2:6 [Jesus Christ] "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
Marriage is a symbol of the love God has for us, same as a man has for his bride. Many marriages are suffering now because many men are not ready to leave their fathers house; e.I their comfort zone to be able to accommodate the shortcomings of their brides. If God count our sins against us who can stand but God's patient toward the disobedient is to propel him to repent due to the love shown.
Christ is no more with us in the flesh but he has caused his spirit to abide with us. We are in him and he is in us. We are purified by the washing of his blood, we have no stain nor wrinkles or blemish but we have become a radiant church for his glory.
