Insecure Bastard!

Got you attention, right? Very good. It's the word 'submission' again.. . . that dreaded “S” word!

"You have to submit to me, don't you know I'm your husband? I am the head of this house, whatever I say is final! Who are you to talk back at me?  Don't you know I am the husband?"  I guess we have heard so much of this in time past.

The word 'submission' has been so misconstrued by people, mostly the christian folk, interpreting it to mean 'slavery'.  From a domineering , self centred and respect demanding  husband, who abuses his wife, to men in the work place, who see women as sexual objects rather than colleagues. All these in the (mis)interpretation of Ephesians 5:21-24.

From Paul's writing on submission, we are to submit to one another and a wife should wilfully submit to her husband as the head of the marriage relationship i.e to 'submit herself ', it need not be demanded by the husband in fact it is the man's responsibility to love his wife as christ loves the church and not to demand submission. Christ submitted to God, with the love of the church in his heart, so the husband should submit to God and sacrifice his live with the love of his wife in his heart, the wife must then willingly submit herself to the husband.

The Bible did not say "women, submit to all men on the street", No! It says WIVES submit yourself to your husbands. As a woman, the world sees you as less important, someone who shouldn't hold any leading position of authority just because she is a woman. If Deborah can be a judge, warrior, a wife and also a mother in Israel then nothing is stopping us from taking those positions.

People without the in-dwelling power of the Holy Spirit have neither the discernment nor the power to live out submission and authority in a godly way.
