The take-away Daughter

Giving away a daughter out in marriage, regardless of her wish is a practice done by every tribe or rather most tribes in the world, it has being happening for a long time, a good example was Joseph and his wife Asenath. This time Joseph is not the subject of the matter but his Wife(Asenath) is our major subject of discussion.

In Genesis 41:45, the bible says 'Then Pharaoh gave Joseph a new Egyptian name, Zaphenath-paneah. He also gave him a wife, whose name was Asenath. She was the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On. So Joseph took charge of the entire land of Egypt.'

No one cares to know whether Asenath wanted to marry Joseph or not, whether she wanted to or not, she has no choice, she is the gift, the possession, the price for being brilliant, clever, wise and a solution or saviour of the world as Joseph's new name implies. Her opinion does not matter in this matter, was she happy to be getting married to a foreigner? Was there a man she loved before Joseph came on board? Did she want to marry an ex-convict? Was Joseph her kind of man? Did she feel cheated, deprived or voiceless?

In all these, God is a righteous one, whether she knew it or not, God blessed the fruit of her womb with an everlasting blessing, she gave birth to two sons for Joseph, Genesis 41:50 it says Joseph had two sons (Manasseh and Ephraim) born to him by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On; this is just the beginning of tje blessing. In the end of it all, in the book of  Revelation the names of her son remains as a tribe in eternity, Revelation 7:6 says Mannasseh's tribe has 12,000.

The lessons here is that we should trust God to be the judge, when we are being cheated or unheard let us trust in God to bless and vindicate us. God sees and he knows all things rest upon his love.
